Tap 1
Tap 1 introduces participants to the noisy exuberance of tap dance while emphasizing good technique. No tap dance experience necessary. If you are just getting started or need a refresher, this is the class for you.
Tap dance promotes artistic expression, physical fitness (cardiovascular health, strength, and balance), and mental acuity. It is music, dance, rhythm, fitness, and fun!
INTENSITY-LEVEL: Moderate. Elevates the heart rate and demands a noticeable yet manageable effort. Quickens breathing but typically allows conversation. May spark a light-to-moderate sweat within 10-15 minutes.
DURATION: Typically 45 – 60 minutes of movement (e.g., standing, walking, dancing, reaching, …) calling for moderate flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance.
AT YOUR OWN RISK: By registering and/or participating in this class, you accept full responsibility for any risks, injuries, or damage, known or unknown, that you might incur due to participation. If you do not want to accept full responsibility, do not register or participate.
Tap 2
Tap 2 continues to develop a participant’s understanding of tap with the introduction of well-known tap combinations and time steps. These combinations follow a particular format that positions students to transition to the next level of dance.
A Tap 2 class series features a takeaway dance routine that will help students continue to practice the tap combinations once the series is complete.
